December 31
Happy New Year!
Sumas or stay home raining until later, locally windy 100% POP 130° at 16 knots -1.0°/1000 feet (inverted) No flying, low cloudbase and rain in town all day :-(
December 30
Sumas clear, locally windy 0% POP 120° at 16 knots -1.0°/1000 feet (inverted) It was blown out at Sumas after noon. Site of the Day page was not updated, because we were at Hemlock with no computer.
December 29
Sumas clear, locally windy 0% POP 120° at 12 knots -1.0°/1000 feet (inverted) Sumas was at its best! Carl launched first and had about 1:30 of sweet soaring, followed by Colleen, Ian J, Duncan, Rob S and myself. Everyone soared well above launch and as it got stronger later, we all headed out to land. The LZ was quite calm at about 500 feet - Jim
December 28
Sumas showers early, tapering later, cloudbase calculator shows only 2000 foot ceiling which could be a problem 60% POP 140° at 12 knots -1.0°/1000 feet (inverted) no pireps
December 27
Sumas Clear, showers possible later 30% POP 140° at 23 knots -1.0°/1000 feet (inverted) Colleen and I drove by Sumas LZ at around 1:00 pm and it was windy in the valley. No other pilots were there so we didn't bother driving up. It was definitely soarable based on the birds!
December 26
Sumas Clear 0% POP 130° at 18 knots -1.0°/1000 feet (inverted) Sumas Report - Ian J, Kevin A, Amir and Trevor flew Sumas, with Kevin getting 30 minutes of soaring. Trevor got trashed over the LZ but otherwise it was okay.

Grouse Report - Colleen and I weren't up to the drive to Sumas so we went to Grouse. It was bumpy leeside conditions with small trashy thermals but we survived - Jim
December 25
Merry Christmas!
Sumas Clear 0% POP 130° at 16 knots -1.0°/1000 feet (inverted) Take tire chains. Ihor and Ian couldn't make it to the top and bailed on flying, although Ian said the winds were favourable.
December 24 Grouse Clear 0% POP 150° at 20 knots -1.0°/1000 feet (very stable) No flight reports but it looked good in the afternoon!
December 23 Sumas Clear and locally windy 0% POP 130° at 16 knots -1.5°/1000 feet (very stable) Sumas Report - Colleen, Kelly and Ian J flew Sumas in no wind for sled rides, forecasted upper level winds were wrong yet again! We made it to the parking area but required chains because it is very icy. On the way down there were many stuck vehicles. Launch has 20 cms of hard snow.

December 22 Stay Home or go kiting Clear and locally windy 20% POP 150° at 28 knots -1.5°/1000 feet (very stable) It wasn't windy in town, but Hope was howling for most of the day 090°@15Knots/Gusting 25Knots.
December 21 Woodside Flurries 60% POP 170° at 8 knots -1.5°/1000 feet (very stable) A bit of snow, otherwise it looked flyable - Jim
December 20 Sumas Clear 0% POP 130° at 8 knots -1.5°/1000 feet (very stable) Went paramotoring in Surrey, light wind at altitude. Colleen flew in from Victoria and the pilot said there was SW flow over the water so Grouse might have been good - Jim

Grouse Report - It was beautiful up on Grouse this afternoon. Thomas and I got to the top of Grouse at 2:30 where it was bright, sunny, and no wind. The view of the Capilano valley, especially the Lions, are really pretty at this time of year when they are all covered in snow. When we got to the peak it was blowing up lightly, and the snow was packed just enough to make running easy... Perfect. Thomas flew first and then myself. Very light thermals out in front of the mountain, gave us nice flights. I find the Bagheera feels every little movement in the air, and lets you interpret it easily. Makes me feel like I'm kind of cheating when I fly it. Awesome glider, good flight. - Justin

December 19 Woodside Clearing by noon 20% POP light and variable to 6000 feet! -2.5°/1000 feet (unstable) Woodside Report - when we arrived at launch at 3:00 pm, it was blowing strong over the back so we went paramotoring instead - Jim

Nova Scotia Report - Well after finally getting my glider back after it was lost in transit, ready to get some flying in. But one of those famous Nor'easters blew through yesterday so too windy to even think about it right now. Hope the flying is better on the Wet Coast! - Nicole

December 18 Stay Home! Rain developing this morning. Wind southeast 40 to 60 km/h becoming westerly 30 to 50 km/h in the afternoon. High 6. 100% POP 220° at 22 knots -2.0°/1000 feet (stable) Rain all day

December 16 Go Christmas Shoppng rain & snow 100% POP 200° at 26 knots -1.0°/1000 feet (very stable) It was ugly out! Time get housework and Christmas stuff done, I don't know how people get ready for Christmas at flying sites that are flyable 360 days a year - Jim

December 9 Woodside sunny 0% POP = 270° at 10 knots -2.5°/1000 feet (unstable, good lapse rate) Woodside Report - Yeahh Baby! 9 PGers and 2 HGers braved the cold to soar Woodside. I was the first wind dummy, launching at 12:00 noon, to find little penetration as I headed out, so I headed over the back and landed to the east, followed by Rob S who made it to the Crash Pad but had little penetration until 1000 feet AGL. About 2 hours later the remaining pilots launched and soared for 60-90 minutes, some personal best filghts were had! Where was Justin K?? You missed all the fun - Jim

Rain, snow and low cloud base all day. When the mountains appeared they looked very pretty. Hemlock Resort opens this weekend for skiing/boarding and flying fun - stay tuned - Jim

December 3 Woodside rain and snow later this afternoon, be prepared to hike the last 500 feet. 30% POP 270° at 10 knots -2°/1000 feet (standard) Woodside Report - only Allan D flew, it was quite strong and weird according to Ian J. They were able to drive to the parking area, but there is probably a lot of new snow overnight so be get ready to hike.
